
FOUNDER, HITTING DEVELOPMENT COACH
Mike Montville
Mike is the Owner/Hitting Director of Powerhouse Sports, and is the hitting coach for the Baltimore Orioles AAA affiliate, the Norfolk Tides. He worked for the Boston Red Sox for over 3 years, spending his time coaching in AAA. The Red Sox also sent him out to the Arizona Fall League to work with some of the top prospects in Baseball. Mike recently was also a hitting coach for the Criollos de Caguas in the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball League (Winter), winning the championship and joining the league as Team Puerto Rico in the 2024 Caribbean Series under Manager and future hall of fame catcher, Yadier Molina.
Mike played three years of minor league baseball for the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am Professional Baseball League. He spent 4 years at the University of Maryland and went on to get his Masters Degree in Sport Management while playing his 5th year at SNHU. He is a graduate of Portsmouth High School, where he helped lead his team to 3 state championships and a 63-game winning streak. He received Gatorade’s Player of the Year in 2009 & 2010, and was a first team all-state selection in football during his junior and senior year. He was also a member of the 2009 State Champion Basketball team. In addition, Mike held a CSCS certification (Strength) and completed an internship at one of the most well known Strength Training Gyms in the country, Cressey Sports Performance. From that internship, he traveled to multiple sites with a team of strength coaches helping run the Area Code Baseball Training events in 2015 and 2016. Mike has consulted with college coaches and athletes regarding training and uses his background in strength to help aid his athletes in baseball movements that work best for them, as well as working with both performance and pitching departments to help maintain healthy throwing arms.

CSCS, PES STRENGTH COORDINATOR
Cory Varrel
A 2006 graduate of Portsmouth High School. During his time at PHS he excelled on the basketball and track team, while also competing on the football and baseball team. His senior year was selected to the basketball senior game, being one of the top twelve players in the state, later that year qualifying for the New England track meet in the long and triple jump events. After graduating from PHS, Cory attended the University of New Hampshire where he competed for the track team all four years.
Cory studied Athletic Training and during his time at UNH and worked with the school’s varsity Men’s basketball, Women’s field hockey, and Women’s soccer. He’s also done training work with Future’s Field Hockey, Coates Sports Management basketball camp, and College Connection. Cory graduated from UNH in May 2010 with a degree in Athletic Training. Cory has also worked for The Program where he was the Strength and Conditioning coach at Governor’s Academy, St. Sebastian’s School, and Belmont Hill School, and Groton School. Cory was a NSCA and NATA member with extensive knowledge in both fields and is a member of the USA National Handball Team.

PITCHING COORDINATOR
Alex Powers
Alex is originally from Brewster Massachusetts and attended college at Southern New Hampshire University. He was 3-year member of the SNHU baseball team and a member of the first SNHU world series team. At SNHU he received several accolades including All American honorable mention, NCBWA all region 1st team, 1st team NE-10 (2012) 3rd team NE-10 (2013). In 2013, he was a 25th round draft choice of Chicago White Sox. Over the course of a 10-season pro career Alex played for the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Detroit Tigers. During his pro career Alex was Double A all-star, member of the Arizona fall league and named the Reds 2019 minor league reliever of the year. Alex reached the AAA level with the Reds, Diamondbacks, Padres, and Tigers.

COACH, RECRUITING COORDINATOR
Kyle Bouchard
Kyle Bouchard joins Powerhouse Sports following a successful five-year coaching career at the collegiate level, with three seasons at Nichols College and two at Gordon College. Most recently, Bouchard served as the Head Baseball Coach at Gordon, where he led the program with a strong emphasis on player development and recruiting.
During his coaching tenure, Bouchard helped mentor three All-New England selections and coached seven All-Conference players. At Nichols, he helped guide the Bison to a third-place finish in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), and under his leadership, the team set single-season records in home runs (33), total bases (599), and strikeouts by the pitching staff (362). Two of his players — Nathaniel Cormier and Brennan Hyde — earned All-Region honors during that span.
As a player, Bouchard was one of the most decorated student-athletes in Nichols College baseball history. He was a four-time CCC All-Conference honoree, the 2021 CCC Player of the Year, and earned All-New England First Team honors from D3baseball.com, along with Second Team recognition from ABCA/Rawlings. He capped off his senior year being named a D3baseball.com Fourth Team All-American and was selected for the NEIBA Division III All-Star team.
Bouchard graduated from Nichols as the program’s all-time leader in games played (155), doubles (41), RBIs (149), and total bases (303), while finishing second in hits (205) and home runs (19).

HITTING COORDINATOR, NEB-NH COACH
Xavier Nunez
Xavier attended Northern Essex Community College in 2016 and 2017, where he hit .456 as a freshman. Nunez was a two-year student-athlete in the Knights program playing third base on the 2016 and 2017 squads, which included a run to the national championship game in 2016. Following his time with the Knights, Nunez moved on to play two seasons at New England College in Henniker, NH in 2018 and 2019. After arriving at NEC He captured several honors such as All conference, All Region, and the Conference Player of the year. As a senior Captain at NEC, Nunez appeared in 46 games and batted .383 for a squad that captured the schools first ever conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division 3 tournament where they captured the New England Regional championship before falling in the Super Regional. Since then He has dedicated himself to coaching. He has worked at several facilities providing instruction to the young players in the area. Has always gotten high praise for his ability to connect and get the most out of his athletes. He then became Assistant Baseball Coach at his alma matter Northern Essex. He is going into his 5th year as an Assistant at NECC and hopes to continue helping the young athletes at powerhouse sports become the best version of themselves.

HITTING COACH
Cam MacDonald
Cam MacDonald is from Seabrook, New Hampshire, and attended Winnacunnet High School, where he was a standout athlete in both baseball and football. Cam first walked into Powerhouse Sports as a freshman in high school — an average baseball player and athlete at best. Through years of consistent, focused work with Mike Montville and Cory Varrell, he transformed his body, developed real strength, and refined his swing and overall game. That commitment and growth turned him into one of the top players in the state by the time he was a senior.
During his final high school season, Cam captained the Winnacunnet baseball team and led the Warriors to the state championship game, finishing the year with a .484 batting average and eight home runs. His dominant performance earned him numerous accolades, including New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year, Division I Player of the Year, and Seacoast Sports Awards Player of the Year.
Cam continued his career at the University of Maine, playing Division I baseball for three seasons. Following a hip injury in his junior year, he transitioned into a coaching role as a catching coach during his senior season, where he discovered his passion for developing athletes and teaching the mental and physical sides of the game.
Today, Cam leads the Powerhouse Catching Program at Powerhouse Sports in Seabrook, NH,where he works with both baseball and softball athletes of all ages. With deep experience in catching, hitting, and strength training, he focuses on building explosive, efficient, and confident players behind the plate and at the plate.
Rooted in the local community and driven by high-level playing and coaching experience, Cam is committed to helping athletes take their game to the next level.
